About Carlsbad
Over 97,000 people call Carlsbad home. Although the downtown dates
back more than a century, Carlsbad incorporated as a general law
city in 1952. The city is governed by a five-member city council
under a council/manager form of government.
The city encompasses over 42 square miles, including three lagoons
and over six miles of coastline. Even at the projected build-out
population of about 130,000, 40 percent of the city will be preserved
as open space.
Carlsbad boasts two libraries, a regional shopping center, a charming
coastal village, over two dozen car dealerships, a world-renowned
theme park, and a diverse and prosperous mix of high-tech, biomedical,
golf and other industries. Carlsbad's beautiful scenery provides
the setting for the San Diego Marathon, the Carlsbad Triathlon,
The Carlsbad 5000, and many other sporting and fitness events.
With single-family and multi-family homes in a variety of community
settings, and a wealth of recreational amenities ranging from
full-featured
community centers to cozy neighborhood parks, Carlsbad truly offers
something for every home owner, every day of the year.
